Surely this guy rocks my world! You know what? He does have this different type of charm which truly catch every girls attention. I always watch his TV show in channel 5, what’s the title of the station again? Oh my! I almost forgot.. But I think it’s “SHAKE MO TV MO?” Am I right? The title of the show is “LIP GLOSS” in which he played here as “KYLE”, the site moderator of the Lip gloss website, and the humble son of the owner of their school. What’s funny about the story is that, his schoolmates and close friends don’t know that he is the son of the owner of the school. And as a freshman, he became the Lip gloss site moderator. He played the role of a Computer Genius (no doubt he became the site moderator). Anyway, enough of story telling.. I found an interesting autobiography of Sam Concepcion, better check this out!
SAMUEL LAWRENCE LOPEZ CONCEPCION
This star has been alive since October 17, 1992. A son to Raymund Concepcion and Gene Concepcion, Sam has also three siblings – his Kuya Red (22), Diko Kevin (21) and Sangko Sam to their baby sister, Gabby (11). Like all his siblings, Sam has been musically inclined eversince his youngster phase with influences from his parents who met at the theater back then. At the age of 2, he already showed signs of stardom by singing and dancing to simple songs. No wonder Sam is so multi-talented.
In fact, he was just 5 years old when he did a worship cantata. Later, he landed his first major role as the young national hero in Sino Ka Ba, Jose Rizal play. It was during this play when Sam got discovered by his current manager, David Cosico. His manager had then encouraged him to join Trumpets Playshop, where Sam further honed his skills in singing, dancing, acting and hosting. By the age of 9 years old, Sam was already an accomplished performer and stage actor. He was part of the very famous stage play, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, where he played “Edmund,” one of the lead casts. With musical influences from Gary Valenciano, Michael Jackson, Usher and his Kuya Christian Bautista, Sam continues to shine with his own unique style, heartmelting voice and energetic moves.
One of his very popular early TV appearances was his commercial with Maggi Sinigang sa Miso where he played the rapping kid, together with his dad. Sam also began appearing on shows like Sineskwela and Hirayamanawari. At the same time, Sam was still active in the theater with plays like Peterpan and the Time Machine, Ragnarok and Mr. Noah’s Big Boat. But besides performing, Sam had also been exposed to hosting. He was a regular host in ABC-5’s A.S.T.I.G. (All Set To Imitate God) where he told stories about God and worship. He was also a host of Nickelodeon’s Whacked, together with Noel and 2 other hosts. Later, Sam guested in Christian Bautista’s concerts like Heartfelt and Colour Everywhere. This only proved that this kid wonder was born to be a star in the making.
Sam’s biggest break happened when he joined Little Big Star, a singing talent search in ABS-CBN hosted by Ms. Sarah Geronimo. Sam instantly became the crowd favorite; he was always the texters’ choice awardee eversince the search started. He competed very well and eventually won the title, The Brightest Star, as he emerged as the ultimate winner in April 2006. Victory had come unexpectedly for Sam, but due to his very evident talents and the love of the Samsters, what his loyal supporters would collectively call themselves, he won by a mile.
Soon after his winning, Sam has continuously been offered lots of projects and endorsements. One of his biggest endorsments is being the youngest model of Bench, one of the pioneer clothes providers in the Philippines. He has also become a magazine favorite, be it in the cover or a magazine feature. Sam’s first major magazine cover was for Candy’s August 2006 issue together with Shaina Magdayao. By September 2006, Sam was awarded the number one Candy Celebrity Cutie despite being a newbie in the business. This has once again proved his increasing fan base among teenagers.
Moreover, Sam’s achievements have never stopped. In just a year, he achieved a whole lot more both locally and internationally. Last June 2006, Sam’s first short film entitled, Miko, won first place at the Bogen Imaging Film and Video Shorts 2006 in a New York Film Festival. Sam, together with the Playshop kids, also won the Best Folk Performance award during a World Travel Fair at Korea. Aside from his international achievements, Sam was also hailed as the Pinoy Wannabe award winner at Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards where people across the globe casted him more than 25,000 votes, winning over Sam Milby, Manny Pacquiao, Bianca Gonzales and Iza Calzado last July 2006. He was also chosen to sing before world leaders, including our President, and top economic delegates from other countries at the pre-APEC convention held in Cebu last August 2006. To top it all up, Sam had his first title concert, together with Christian Bautista, in a Back2Back Bday Bash last October 15, 2006 at the music hall in Mall of Asia.
His most memorable portrayals in television as of date are from Super Inggo and Walang Kapalit. Sam played Boi Bawang, one of the main lead heroes in the ABS-CBN superserye, Super Inggo, together with his fellow LBS finalist, Makisig Morales. The show garnered the highest ratings and discussions for that time period; a sequel is already in the works for this superserye. Sam’s latest portrayal was as the young Piolo Pascual in Walang Kapalit. This was his first taste of heavy drama as he received various praises for his acting, and had the highest pilot rating for that time period as well. Just recently, Sam played lead as Troy Bolton in the theater version of High School Musical. The theater version was a major success as Sam and the rest of the cast garnered lots of applause and good reviews from the viewers.
Currently, Sam is a regular co-host of YSpeak on Studio 23 and appears randomly in other ABS-CBN and GMA shows. He is also the voice behind the lead character, “Koyuki,” in HeroTV’s Beck. Not only that, Sam is also very much in demand with other gigs outside TV, be it a performance in a mall or even a big concert event. What takes up most of Sam’s schedule is the promotion of his first solo hit album under Universal Records, with the carrier single, Even If. The album was launched last September 2007 and is doing very well in the market. Meanwhile, his carrier single is already a hit and is steadily climbing up the charts. Although recording albums is not new to Sam, he has recorded several compilation albums for Dunkin Donuts and Little Big Star a while back. Once again, this only proves that Sam Concepcion has finally reached stardom at such a young age and will continue to soar higher in the years to come.
Along with everything that is happening with Sam, especially at his young age, comes another great achievement. At just 14 years old, Sam has a wonderful career. He is well-known. But despite that, Sam has kept his feet on the ground and his priorities straight. Education still remains his top priority as he is determined to finish his studies. With all these, Sam is definitely an epitome of excellence and inspiration to everyone, truly worthy to be the youth’s role model. These are the very same traits that the Department of Education has found in Sam. Thus, Sam is now inducted as the Department of Education’s Youth Role Model and Spokesperson! The induction rite was held last September 5, 2007 at the Benitez Hall, Teacher’s Camp in Baguio City. The event was attended by around 6000 students from various locations in the country. To add to that, Sam is still is Youth Ambassador for Education and the Arts in the 3rd District of Manila.
Sam is really one busy kid. He is now a junior high school student in a Home Study program. But above all, Sam has remained true with his Christian faith. The whole Concepcion family always see to it that they go to church every Sunday and thank God for all the blessings. It is through all these blessings and achievements that Sam is able to share his talents and reach out to all his adoring fans. The best thing about his success is that Sam has never changed. He has remained that God-fearing, humble, hardworking and funny guy we all love. Truly, Sam is the youngest, brightest & multimedia superstar of his generation and more.
